Compass is the cornerstone of the DCSOS. It has been in operation since 2010 and serves as an alternative for youth who would otherwise be committed to the ADYS or detained in the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center. This program has been highly successful in rehabilitating at-risk youth in Dallas County by:

  1. Focusing on high-risk youth who have a held order for a DYS commitment

  2. Providing individual and family counseling and work skills development

  3. Providing transportation to community based events

  4. Intense supervision such as curfew checks and random drug screens

  5. Structure during high-risk periods
